Figuratively and literally, Isuzu Philippines Corp. has made way for the best-selling Crosswind AUV. First, Isuzu has made way for a new 2010 version of the Crosswind, highlighted by new features inside and out. For the exterior, Isuzu has installed a redesigned six-hole, fully embossed radiator grille. It is complemented by a new lower bumper design with silver garnish, new halogen projector-type headlamps, and new chrome garnish for foglamps. The chromed power-folding side mirrors have also been embellished with an amber lens. At the back, the 2010 Crosswind sports a new spare-tire cover.
The Crosswind now also comes with exciting new colors, including Fusion Orange (XUV), Granite Gray (XUV and XT), Moroccan Gold (Sportivo), Tundra Green (Sportivo), and Venetian Blue (XTi). Ebony Black, Glacial White and Sterling Silver are still available.
Inside, the Crosswind Sportivo variant becomes the first vehicle in its cla
ss to feature an audio unit with ultra-wide touch-screen LCD monitor. This works in tandem with a pair of headrest-mounted 7-inch high-resolution LCD monitors for second-row passengers. Other new touches in the cabin are the new-design console box with integrated dual cupholders, and the second-row convenient tray.
Isuzu has also literally made a new way for the Crosswind. In a media ride-and-drive event held on June 26-27, Isuzu invited a select group of journalists to drive manual-transmission versions of different 2010 Crosswind variants (Sportivo, XUV, and XT) to Baguio, using a new route that passes through Aritao in Nueva Vizcaya. This new Manila-to-Baguio-to-Manila (regular route going back to Manila which is via La Union) loop is more than 600 kilometers long, obviously much longer than the traditional courses but more challenging and enjoyable.
“We chose a longer route to Baguio because we wanted our media friends to have a more intimate experience inside the 2010 Crosswind,” said IPC President Keiji Takeda. “We wanted them to find out firsthand what more than 50,000 Crosswind owners already know. I am really proud of this vehicle because it is locally assembled in our Biñan facility in Laguna. You can say it is a vehicle made by Filipinos for Filipinos.”
